Saturday, March 8th, saw our students from grade 7 & 8 exhibit their work and English language proficiency for parents, peers, and visitors to our school’s Secondary English Language Program. Over the past few weeks, all students have been busily preparing posters, PPT presentations, making props and models, writing original dramas and speeches on the topics of Natural Disasters (grade 7) and Inventors/Inventions (grade 8). Students from every class, were divided into groups of 3-5 people and tasked with working together to come up with an interesting and informative display and talk which would showcase their English language and knowledge they learned while studying their respective topics.
For many students, and indeed adults alike, it is not easy to get up and confidently speak in front of others. If we then consider that our students had to do this in a language which is not their mother tongue, then we can only feel proud of and acknowledge the great achievement that our students were able to reach by confidently presenting their work all through their English language skills. I speak for all our staff here in Secondary English language department, when saying well done and thank you to all our students who worked so hard to ensure a successful, enjoyable, and informative showcase.
