Sports Day is nearly upon us and the grade 10s are wrapping up their sports and fitness themed unit. For their final project they were asked to teach the other students some physical activity. They were graded upon their use of vocabulary, their fluency, their level of detail, the amount of engagement they received and their use of time. From walking, to running, to Kung Fu, to roller skating, all sorts of different physical activities were shared and taught to their classmates. The students were encouraged to not simply just show and explain, but to demonstrate and have their classmates try to learn and follow. Let’s take a look at a few examples.
Next, we have the students teaching each other the value of lifting weights as well as different techniques.
Don’t have access to weightlifting equipment? No problem! How about some calisthenics then?
Next, we have students teaching some more competitive games such as arm wrestling and basketball.
Moving on, we have some students demonstrating their kung fu skills.
Here students trying their best to rollerblade.
In the end the students had a good time while improving their spoken English and encouraging physical fitness. See you on Sports Day!
